Changing our habits

“The hospitality sector of the future must be based on responsibility and respect, with sustainable development central to its actions. Accor is striving to build a contributive model, which means giving back more than we take.”

A positive approach

“Under the leadership of Brune Poirson, Sustainable Development Director within the Committee and a member of the group’s Executive Committee, Accor has committed to achieving the SBTi Corporate Net-Zero Standard by 2050, with an initial 46% reduction in its emissions by 2030, and has made its first bond issue indexed to its sustainable development objectives for €700 million. ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) criteria now play an important role in the variable pay of Accor’s managers and executives, going up to 15% for key positions.”

With sound foundations

“We’re very careful not to communicate about things we don’t do, or do badly. We’d rather miss out on a major communication opportunity. We seek to be rock solid about what we say, and humble in the way we say it.”

A partner in cooperation

“The Purchasing teams, led by Caroline Tissot, in partnership with other leaders in the hotel industry, including Hilton, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International and the Radisson Hotel Group, have announced the co-founding of the Hospitality Alliance for Responsible Procurement (HARP). This alliance is part of Accor’s ongoing commitment to sustainable purchasing, and aims to help reduce the Group’s carbon emissions.”

A fresh look

“The first phrase they teach us when we adopt ESG is that there is no such thing as a winning company in a losing world. That resonates with me every single moment. Tomorrow, in a world on fire, the only companies left will be those geared to a contributive model. It’s part of the approach we want to add to our value proposal.”
