Know thyself

“I’m someone who sets a lot of store by results. But I came to realise that I couldn’t control everything. I have limitations; I’m only human, and I accept that. It doesn’t matter. It’s a self-teaching process, and these small instances of awareness can change the atmosphere in the company.”

A vision of the organisation

“The organisation needs to create a safe working environment – one that can help leaders dare to take initiatives, dare to make decisions, dare to say hey, this might be a mistake, but I want to try this new method and if I take this approach, to know that the company or my boss won’t hold it against me.”

The river and the mountain

“What’s the difference between men and women? Sensibility. We find it easier to say that we’re not feeling well, that we need a rest or that we simply can’t do something. But men are brought up to think they can manage everything, that they are kings who can save the world. In Chinese culture, we describe women as rivers and men as mountains.”

A leader like any other

“As a woman, I don’t want to be described as a woman leader. I just want to be remembered as a leader, full stop – a great leader.”

A more accommodating world

“In the post-Covid world, everyone pays more attention to individual feelings, empathy and well-being.”
